Storytelling is not just ordinary fiction. It is the art of narrating a message in a concise, meticulous, and pithy way that grasps the reader's attention from the first paragraph to the conclusion.
However, in user experience design, (UXD), storytelling is a prerequisite because it helps the designer in narrating the experience story in a profound way that people can easily understand what the designer has done. Storytelling in a case study is also one important aspect for every designer because it is the approach to documenting the designer's thoughts and ideas when working on the case study.
In this WhyEat24? the designer started the case study by telling us about the brand, which is synonymous with the beginning of a story. When writing a story, the writer begins with the introduction. Well, in this context, the designer also narrated the problem the users find in using the product to deliver their food.
Identifying the research is also part of storytelling in design. As a (UXD), it is important to explain the research methodology of the design idea, in the form of a story that would be more appealing and coherent to the reader. Thus, this designer indicates the research and later proceeds to the problem.
In actual storytelling, be it fiction or nonfiction, there is always the middle when writing the story. And this particular case study addresses that by telling the reader about the problem. The problem is somewhat like the pillar of a case study; similarly, the suspense and intrigues of a story. It gives the reader a headway of what the story is addressing, be it a social prejudice or theme.
After the designer has defined the problem, it takes us through a form of storytelling that captivates us with succulent tales of the solution, by discussing the task flow and addressing what the designer achieves by the ideation.
Storytelling is the same thing everywhere. Be it fiction or non-fiction, it always has the same structure and approach. Meanwhile, for this UX Case Study, the designer gives a drive through the product's problem, solution, and result, which is relevant to the design thinking process of a UX design.
Well, what I learned from the UX case study is that the designer ensures that every piece of information syncs with others, with a proper interpretation of what the product suffers before the design. I learned that storytelling is to be the prowess of every UX case study so as not to bore the reader with long text.
